Securing the UK’s 0.7% commitment to aid spending in law
In 2013, the UK became the first G8 country to reach the historical target of spending 0.7% of our Gross National Income on Overseas Development Assistance. This was a huge step, meeting a commitment made over 35 years previously and demonstrating our commitment to assisting the development of some of the world’s poorest countries.
However, despite reaching the target, and despite pledges from all three of the main Party leaders, the Government have not put that pledge into law.
