RESULTS UK belongs to a partnership called ACTION, which brings together advocacy organisations from around the world. Many of us have grassroots volunteer campaigners and advocates at the heart of what we do. So to mark International Volunteer Day, we want to showcase volunteers around the world who give up their time to advocate for an end to global poverty.
What is a volunteer? By definition, a volunteer is someone who willingly gives up their free time, lending their skills and passion to an activity or cause in which they believe. But a volunteer is so much more than that. Volunteers provide the insights, energy, ingenuity, and action-taking that help make big things happen. Volunteers truly have the power to change the world.
That’s why, on International Volunteer Day (December 5), we are celebrating volunteers from around the ACTION Partnership. You are the powerhouses around the world who make RESULTS such a vital player in the work of alleviating poverty and creating impact. Thanks to your commitment, we are able to act boldly, endeavouring to change public policy toward an end to global poverty.
We are grateful for all you do every day of the year – but we are thrilled to be able to take time on International Volunteer Day to celebrate you, to say thank you, and to express how excited we are for all that is ahead as we work together. Join us as we take a journey around the world to hear from some of our incredible volunteers.
Kehinde grew up in Nigeria and now lives in Birmingham, UK. An interest in religion, ethics and social justice motivated her to join in global campaigns such as ‘Drop The Debt’, and ‘Make Poverty History’, and gradually understand the link between poverty, injustice, and power in tackling the root causes of poverty. She has more recently been campaigning with RESULTS UK on the UK Government’s global commitment to global health and education.
Adrianna joined Results Canada as group leader in March 2020, founding the current group in Montreal. Discussing international issues and learning about health systems is a passion of hers, along with understanding impactful forms of communication. She is now a Regional Coordinator for Canada’s Eastern region.
Sajjad joined Results in April 2021 in the Scarborough group near Toronto. Since then, he has been a very engaged volunteer who quickly challenged himself to go beyond his comfort zone. Early on, he met with Members of Parliament and was published in four different newspapers.
