In the first conference call of 2022, we had an overview of what’s going on in the world of international development in the UK, and what opportunities are coming up for RESULTS campaigners this year to help overcome poverty and injustice. The main topic of the call this month was polio eradication, and the need for the UK commits to funding the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI). We heard from Sona Bari, external relations coordinator for polio eradication at the World Health Organization, who explained what the GPEI does and talked us through why the fight to end polio matters. She shared the powerful message that when it comes to eradicating this debilitating childhood disease: “The only number that matters is zero”.

Take action and call on the UK government to commit to supporting the fight to end polio.
