Karen Downard
Board MembersKaren was a school librarian for many years. More recently she’s been a teacher of English for Speakers of Other Languages. She promotes and sells Fairtrade, is a Tearfund speaker and Results grassroots campaigner. She’s visited Fairtrade groups in Peru and Ghana and Tearfund projects in Mozambique. She’s also studied International Development Management with the Open University.
Previously living in Cheshire, she was a co-leader of the Macclesfield Results group and one of the voluntary directors of the Fairtrade shop in Warrington Market. Now living in Edinburgh, she is helping with the Results Scotland group and has joined SIDA, the Scottish International Development Alliance. She was delighted to find that members of the public are welcome to attend Cross-Party Groups at the Scottish Parliament and attends some international development group meetings.
Recreationally Karen enjoys exploring Scotland, going to the theatre, reading and handicrafts – occasionally dabbling in a bit of craftivism.
