Equity by Design examines the lessons we learned from unequal access to vaccines during the COVID-19 pandemic and explores how proposals for regional manufacturing can be used to build genuine partnerships.
Changing the address of a factory is not enough, nor is creating and owning vaccine technology in the Global North but putting it into bottles in the Global South. If initiatives such as the African Vaccine Manufacturing Accelerator are to lead to a meaningful shift in power, equity has to be designed into the manufacturing process.
